On Monday, November 11th, 2019, the “Village for Peace“, an educational day on subjects of creating and maintaining peace dedicated to local schools, took place.

The event was supported by various associations and professionals from the sector, making their knowledge and expertise available. A total of eleven workshops on different humanitarian issues, peace and respect for humans, animals and nature took place.

COOPI Suisse conducted together with Amnesty International 2 workshops:

  • COOPI Suisse & Amnesty International for the Environment and Disaster Risk Reduction

Sustainable peace is only possible when everyone fully enjoys their rights. The workshop focused on climate change and the effects of environmental disasters on people in fragile contexts. The workshop intends to raise awareness among the children, and help them acknowledge that they themselves have the possibility to influence certain areas and situations, to demonstrate the significance of individual actions and choices.

  • Amnesty International and COOPI Suisse for Food Security

Having safe access to adequate food and nutrition is a right of every human being. The workshop starts by introducing the theme of access to safe food in sufficient quantities and quality, encouraging the children to carry out activities that allow them to learn more about fragile environments people live in and where nutrition is not guaranteed.
